The Phaltan Education Society, Phaltan established Shrimant Bhaiyyasaheb Rajemane Mahavidyalaya on 20th June, 1997 in Mhaswad, Dist. Satara, Maharashtra. The aim of the college is to educate the rural youth by bringing education to their doorstep, to provide the opportunity of higher education which, students in the cities enjoyed, to create social awareness, to promote communal harmony and arouse scientific temper. The college is located 70 kilometers away from its mother institute at Phaltan and 87 kilometers East from Satara in a drought-prone location with rainfall below 500 mms per annum. The campus area of the college is 5.5 acres.

Nelson Mandela Shrimant Bhaiyyasaheb Rajemane Mahavidyalaya, Mhaswad. Dist. Satara, established on 20th June 1997 is one of the leading institutes of higher education in this region. It was founded by Hon. Shrimant Vijaysinh alias Shivajiraje Naik Nimbalkar with the noble cause of providing quality education to rural and socio economically backward youth especially girl students. The college is run by the Phaltan Education Society, Phaltan. The college offers UG programmes of B.A., B.Com. B.Sc. and P.G. programme in History. The college is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur. It also runs the study centre of Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) to cater to the needs of students who are unable to pursue HE in regular mode.
